It has been five years since Wendy Darling and her brothers returned home after a harrowing ordeal in which they'd "gone missing" for several days and nights. To Wendy, they returned by fairy magic, fresh from the fight with Captain Hook, a little mussed up but none the worse for wear.
But to the rest of the world, Wendy and her brothers were abducted and put through such a traumatic experience, Wendy has subconsciously taken to hiding the truth from her brothers and herself by making up stories. Fairy stories – about a boy named Peter Pan and a world called Neverland.
Life is anything but a fairy story for them now. Wendy is being subjected to unwanted psychiatric therapy, her brothers are bullied at school, and the family is falling apart.
Then, one mist-filled night, a billowing black flag parts the clouds in the sky like the fin of a shark. It bears the stark white symbol of a skull and crossbones upon it.
Wendy has been forced to leave Neverland behind. But it is far from finished with her. In the blink of an eye, her world is once more turned upside down by a pixie in human form, a one-handed captain far more handsome and intriguing than she remembered him to be – and by a little boy… who grew up after all.

Neverland for those of us who grew up!
By D. Kang
I read one Heather Killough-Walden book on a whim because it was only .99 cents. I enjoyed the first book so when looking for another quick read for complete entertaining purposes I searched for more of her books. Seeing Forever Neverland on the list and reading its blurb peeked my interest. It also helped that it only cost 1.00 (can you tell that I don't like to pay a lot of money for my Kindle books?). I figured nothing ventured, nothing lost. At most, I'd read a poorly written book and waste a buck. However, I was pleasantly surprised from the beginning. As a childhood fan of Peter Pan I always fantasied about what happened after the Darling children returned. As an adult I was happy to finally get my "fantasy" come to life in this story. Its obviously not what I had in mind or else I would have written the book, but Walden created something so much better then I could have ever come up with!
Mixing in a dose of reality with fantasy was done with such ease and talent that the reader is instantly whisked away to their own Neverland. The harsh reality of the Darling children's return to the "real" world and the reintroduction of some of the Neverland friends is entrancing. I must say that the new focus on Captain Hook and his story was brilliant! As a child reading Peter Pan you naturally grow up to hate Captain Hook. The initial introduction of Hook brought back those scary and hate filled memories, but the memories slowly melted away; as does Wendy's, when his story is told. My only complaint is that I didn't want the story to end. Without giving anything away, I wanted the ending to be a little more concrete, but I guess Walden wanted the reader to venture into their imagination and continue the story in their own minds! Truly a must read!!!

Pure magic....
By Chaos Mykonos
Forever Neverland is a bold and daring journey straight into the very heart of Neverland. Wendy, Peter, Tink and Hook are brought back to life in captivating detail with added twists and new stories to tell. Their stories are as exciting and adventurous as ever as they deliver the heart-wrenching truth of what it means to be a real Lost Boy... or girl. I absolutely loved and was touched by Forever Neverland. I was caught up from the beginning to the electrifying end. Forever Neverland is a true treasure for the pirate at heart.

Very Disappointed
By butterfly950
Okay, so when I first read the description for this book it sounded very promising but when I finished reading it I was very disappointed. The first half of the book is very well done, although there are frequent typos and a couple of plot line errors. The plot line errors are the name of Wendy's teacher changing and the time period the story takes place, it is supposed to take place five years after the original events of the story by J. M. Barrie but the author set the book in modern times. That's cool, I think it is an interesting twist on the story but it left me confused for a while as to when exactly everything takes place. My confusion definitely took away from the well done beginning of this book.
The second half is where things take a turn for the worse. The writing lost something and I felt like I was reading a fan fiction. But I stuck it out and finished although I dreaded where the story was going. When I finished I realized that the story did have several well written sections and plot pieces but overall it failed to impress me and left me somewhat disturbed. I don't want to ruin the story because apparently some people liked it, according to the mass amount of five star reviews that I don't understand. The problem with Neverland itself and its outcome is not what disturbed me, but it was the relationship between two of the characters. Granted it was a legitimate twist to the traditional story and I have nothing wrong with that, but it was the result of that that I don't agree with. It seemed [...]in its most basic sense and I am assuming that that is why the author took the relationship no further than where it went.
So all in all, I think the story could have been wonderful if done a little differently. It certainly had promise but read like a rough draft.
