I didn't like it... I LOVED IT!!!

This is the first thing thing that I have read that was written by Sabrina Sexton and I must say that I loved every word and look forward to reading more of her work. Her writing is very detailed, so much so that you feel like you are right there watching it live.

As for the story its self I thought it was great. This is not a story for the faint of heart or those that are looking for a soft romantic love story. This is about a girl that discovers her true self while attending a 'Masquerade'. I think the ending will surprise you and leave you wanting for more. I know it did me... Enjoy!!!

Brilliant Idea

My favorite book about philosophy is one called "The philosophical backstairs", this one comes a booming second. I had fun with the jokes, it made philosophy easy accessible. And to top it off, in my case, I was at the time living with a flat mate who insisted you couldn't read anything in the toilet that was of deeper spiritual content. So having this one there was a great way to circumvent him and use valuable time to read valuable and deeper content. Because the stories and jokes are short, it also was conclusive for the time spent at that location. It turned out to be a popular reason to stop by our house when in town for the necessities.

If you want to learn philosophical ideas in a "non boring" way This is "the Book" you are looking for. Great book. it describes deep ideas in a feather weight way. Really it is amazing. You can read it as a story book once you finish reading a section and you will suddenly realize that what you had read is a complex philosophical idea "just like that". Great I highly recommend for both who are newbies for the field of philosophy- who can get a good grip on what they will learn and even for experienced who can be amazed from the writing style and connections

Philosophy is too important to talk about seriously.

If U can see the wisdom in the foregoing tweak of a line from Oscar Wilde, then U will like this book. Tho many of the jokes and philosophical concerns may already be familiar (especially in the early chapters), the clarity and humor of the irreverent discussions freshen up the old stuff. Unless U already have an encyclopedic knowledge of both jokes and philosophy, U may well find some new laughs and new insights.

Oversimplifications are remarkably few and mild. Indeed, the authors make good use of a 1-liner in explaining why Kant's Categorical Imperative should not be simplistically shrugged off as a ponderous way to state the Golden Rule. A short book inevitably has questionable omissions (as in 0 mentions of Rawls on ethics/justice despite having room for 3 of Quine on language); maybe the authors just could not find appropriate jokes.

Visually, the book is mostly good. The few cartoons are both funny and relevant, while the many jokes are set in a contrasting but legible type face. There are some interesting asides that might have been presented as long footnotes in an old book or as sidebars in a modern book or on a webpage. These asides are in the same font as the main text, but with a brownish orange color that is too light.

The most comprehensive text available on the subject

Amazing is the only way to describe the wide range of vegetables covered in this book. It is an excellent reference and well worth the price. I have not seen any other book that covers the botany, physiology and production of so many vegetables so well. Dr. Rubatzky has just recently retired from UC Davis to spend more time with his family. We will all miss his presence on campus; hopefully, he will continue to find the time to write.
