Very clear, extremely helpful

This book is put together very well. The definitions are clear and concise and each entry has links to related concepts so that you can easily build your own study path depending on your interests. I especially appreciated that the definitions are written for people of all skill levels. No prerequisite knowledge of the topics is required to get value from the material. I would have gladly paid more for such a well written resource.

I can recommend this book

This is a really handy guide, with obviously a lot of effort made to make the definitions as short, clear and unambiguous as possible. Although aimed at A-level music technology students (age 16 and upwards), after the initial preface, the content it is entirely generic - no mention of "Dr Berber" (not sure what that reviewer was talking about) in the glossary itself. I can recommend this book.

This is a very short and overly simple set of definitions. Even at $2.99, it wasn't worth the price.

It apparently originated as handouts for a music production class. I know this, because the author didn't edit out the parts saying what classes it was for. Not as in "I originally wrote this for music production classes", but as in "If you're in MUS 127 with Dr. Berber you'll find this quite useful." (Not an exact quote - I returned by copy so I can't give one.) Seriously, if you're going to sell something at least make it to where its not written to an audience other than your buyers.

Not one star, because the definitions were accurate. But no more than two, as this stuff is all over the web. Wikipedia covers the same stuff at 20x the depth.

About the Author
Deborah Phillips has been teaching English for over twenty-five years with an emphasis on test preparation and academic skills preparation. She has led seminars and participated in conferences on test preparation and English language teaching in Mexico, Brazil, Chile, Argentina, France, Spain, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and the United Arab Emirates. She currently teaches courses for the certification of teachers in English as a second language at the University of California. Ms. Phillips is the author of the Longman Preparation Course for the TOEFL(R) Test series of textbooks and CD-ROMs. She is currently working on new textbooks and CD-ROMs to prepare students for the latest version of the TOEFL(R) test.

Listening Materials are not included in this CD-ROM !!!

What's in the CD-ROM is a software which includes some additional exercises, but not the listening materials. Once you need to do the listening exercises in this book, you have to buy it from else where. What's more I don't appreciate is the software in this CD-ROM runs so slow, sometimes I had to move the software window in order to letting it show the next page, which drove me crazy!!
However, it is a good book so far for me to prepare the toefl paper test. The skills are listed clearly, so you can find out where your problems are quickly.
Anyway, It's a good book though.

Excellent book! But...

This book is very helpful, but the CD doesn't provide you with the listening section. You will have to either cut or photograph the conversation from the back and have someone to read it for you. My teacher and her husband recorded the conversation for me, which is very helpful too! The recorded conversations is sold separately, and it is not cheap, so I didn't buy it. Plus, it more difficult to find it than to find two people to record it.
Other than the missing conversation, this book does teach you to ace TOEFL'''''''''''s many tips on how you should approach a question.

This book summarizes not only the background of Fudo Myo-o (or Acala), but presents many sample drawings and suggested styles and decoration elements. This enables for sketching the main parts of any horimono: back with buttocks, upper arms, and shoulder/breast. With this book, a clear concept can be created before meeting the tattooer, understanding his own concepts and creations. Highly recommended!

Purchased as a gift for my son. He enjoyed it (he needed it for his schooling, but had been previously interested, so it's very cool that he was able to weave those things together....)

My only issue, if at all, was that it arrived in a flimsy envelope and the front cover was bent. Of course that does not diminish the contents of the book, it was a bit of a tsk! as it was a gift. I wouldn't even mention this if I'd purchased it for myself. I'd just suggest that the seller be a little more aware of their mailing procedures.
